It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 12th Shanghai International Piano Competition for Young Artists. The competition will be held in the beautiful city of Shanghai in collaboration with European Foundation for Support of Culture. We are looking forward to hearing wonderful and inspirational music from young artists of the world. It is our mission to discover and encourage pianists who possess a personal voice of interpretation and musical conviction. Our distinguished jury will recognize those competitors who convey themselves as true artists. I wish all the competitors to be inspired by each note they play and to continue their journey of musical passion in the future. We are glad to welcome you to the Shanghai International Piano Competition for Young Artists 2019, organized by European Foundation for Support of Culture.
This international piano competition provides an opportunity and a new effective platform for young pianists to show their technique, skills and professionalism. It is also a great chance for the participants to demonstrate their personality and knowledge when interpreting the compositions they will be performing.
The Shanghai International Piano Competition for Young Artists 2019 makes part of ‘14 Ways to Malta 2021’ - a big series of 14 international piano competitions, whereby 5 best finalists from each competition will be invited to participate at the Malta International Piano Competition 2021 within the framework of the “Malta International Music Festival”.
The mission of the European Foundation for Support of Culture as well as the Shanghai International Piano Competition for Young Artists 2019 is to discover, promote, support and highlight the great masters of the keyboard emerging in this generation; to rediscover the unusual repertoire while providing audiences with a unique musical experience; to build the audience of the future to help ensure the very existence of classical music. Our focus is to give talents an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience on an international level. Thus we are glad to welcome pianists from different countries around the world!
