Manz was the only German winner of many international competitions at that time.

He performed in major halls and festivals all over the world. More than 50 piano concertos are in his repertoire and a wide range of different solo and chamber works from Bach to the modern era. He recorded several CDs with EMI, Naxos a.o. which were widely acclaimed.

He has performed with internationally renowned orchestras for a long time including the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, Vienna Orchestra, Bonn Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, Bavarian Opera Orchestra Munich.

Wolfgang Manz has also been jury member of many international piano competitions such as: ARD Competition in Germany, International Piano Competition in Ettlingen, Schumann Piano Competition in Duesseldorf, Brussels International Piano Competition in Belgium, Bechstein Competition Berlin, German Music Award Competition Bonn, Rachmaninow Piano Competition Germany Darmstadt, Prague Spring Competition in the Czech Republic, Enescu International Competition Bucarest/Rumania, PTNA Japan Competition a. o.

Manz has produced and influenced some world-famous pianists such as Alexander Schimpf, Igor Levit, Konstantin Semilakovs, Jin Sang Lee.

His students have not only won awards in many international piano competitions (e.g. Leeds International Piano Competition in the UK, Ettlingen International Piano Competition in Germany, Cleveland International Piano Competition in the US, Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in the United States, ARD Piano Competition in Germany, Rachmaninow International Piano Competition a. o., but also became professors at University of Music Hannover, university of Arts Vienna, University of Music Frankfurt , Tokyo Tohu University, Seoul National University of Arts a. o.

Furthermore Wolfgang Manz is President of the Mozart Association Nürnberg and artistic director of a concert series in Trier/Germany, Artistic director of the Lions music competition in Southern Germany, member of the Senate at Nuremberg Music University, and member of the Advisory board at Munich University.
